Uintah County releases 6.5 million dollars in public works administration projects for Vernal City. Projects include waterworks upgrades 13 000 and extension 45 000, city office building and library 25 000, asphalt sidewalks 23 000 feet 318 000, golf course and recreational grounds 32 000, Boy Scout building 10 000, native asphalt paving 30 000, airport and hangars 5 000, Vernal drains 15 000, sewer system completion 25 000, irrigation ditch lining 4 000.

Leon H Carroll Dies in Salt Lake Hospital

Leon Rosamond Hardy Carroll wife of DeVere Carroll from Vernal died after an appendicitis operation at LD 8 hospital Salt Lake on Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services set for Saturday at 1 pm in Vernal First Ward chapel under bishopric. She was born June 19 1905 in Vernal daughter of Albert A and Clara Griffin Hardy and survived by her husband son Bert Lloyd five, parents in Manila two sisters Wilda Brimhall Gallup and Alberta Hardy Manila and brother Glenn Hardy Manila.

Dr J L Lewis Succumbs to Heart Attack in Vernal

Dr J L Lewis 48 an optometrist of Provo and former Vernalite died Thursday morning after a heart attack. He had been visiting his jewelry shop with his father W W Lewis and was reportedly in good health prior to the collapse. Born December 8 1886 in Bennington Idaho he studied at USAC Logan Chicago School of Optometry and married twice producing two children Earl and Barbara and a grandson. Survived by his widow three sons a daughter and four siblings, funeral at the Congregational church conducted by Rev George E Guild under Masonic auspices.

Woolgrowers Hold Annual Meet Here

Ash ley Woolgrowers association held its annual meeting at the county courthouse on Saturday. They urged designating several roads as secondary state highways and abolishing the White river toll bridge to save travel costs to the north and south. Board members were elected and the group endorsed a National Wool-growers plan to charge 210 cents per wool bag to fund advertising.

George Mil Alexander Dies After Salt Lake Hospital Stay

George Mil Alexander age 22, manager of the Uintah Basin stage line, died Sunday in Salt Lake after injuries from a gasoline explosion at his home. He had been moved to a Salt Lake hospital with his bride, father, brother, and sister at his side, and his death sent Vernal and the Uintah Basin into mourning. The Vernal youth was part of the local Gaub Gang of nine and a standout athlete at Vernal High School and USAC, with a noted basketball and football career and a heroic spirit in his community.

Utah Liquor Question In Legislature War Over By the Bottle
