Vernal Gill Joins WAACS as Emma Lou Markey Applies
Vernal Gill joined the WAACS Tuesday at Blue Lake and Emma Lou Markey applied for foreign service. Markey, a year and a half at Remington Simell Arms Plant 15 as an inspector, is a graduate of Wa Citah High School. In 1836 she worked for MST and T Go for three years and will report for duty at De Moins Town March 16.

Autoist Fires Bullet Through Saloon Window
A car with one occupant was seen in front of the Thirst Parlor when a bullet passed through the saloon window on Tuesday afternoon. The glass remained intact aside from a clean hole. No one was identified as firing the shot and the car sped away. Mrs Meira Roberts is wintering with her daughter in Calexico, California, and praises the warmth of Uyere with trips to Old Mexico.

Uintah Boy Scouts Plan Summer Outing at Kaler Hollow

Captain Wooley Killed in Plane Crash
Captain Cloyd Wooley of Tridel Utah died in a plane crash near Baresata Hiorida while serving as an army fighter pilot. He enlisted in the US Army, became a first lieutenant in 1940, and was promoted to captain in September 1942. Survived by widow Grace Hogan Wooley, five brothers in the armed forces, four sisters, and other relatives. The body will be brought to Tridel for burial with services Saturday at 1 p.m.

Thirteen Scarlet Fever Cases Reported in Uintah County
A state health release notes thirteen scarlet fever cases in Uintah County. Dr J M Francke, county physician, says nine are at Rainbow and none are severe. Mr and Mrs F W Pearce and 400 Pearce spent the weekend returning to Lynwood, California.

E E Hailwood to Be Ordained at Salt Lake Sunday
E E Hailwood will be ordained to the diaconate at St Pauls Episcopal Church Salt Lake on Sunday morning launching the second chapter of his ministry. Born in 1918 at Mancelona Michigan he studied at Grand Rapids Tufts University and Episcopal Theological School at Cambridge Mass. He may enter chaplaincy in the armed forces once the church permits. The ordination sermon will be by Dr Rhea Bishop of Idaho with Utah bishops and clergy in attendance.

Registration for Ration Book 2 Sets Monday Start
Registration for war ration book 2 will be held next week starting Monday at elementary schools countywide. The exact days are not yet announced. The book will be used for point rationing of processed foods from March 1. A consumer declaration form must list on hand canned foods, including fruits, vegetables, juice, soup, chili sauce, and catsup.
Senate Committee Hears on Uintah grazing reserve bill
Senate committee heard two day sessions on an Indian grazing reserve plan for Hill Creek in Uintah County. L G Noble, long-time educator from Utah and Arizona, has been appointed superintendent of Topaz schools by the War Relocation Authority. U H S to Give Annual Concert At Auditorium
