Storm Bide: Snow Blocks Funeral Trip For Remingtons
Mrs. Alice Gillman Remington White, 83, a former Vernal resident and mother of A. H. Remington, died Feb 4 in Rockland Idaho from a heart attack. Snow blocked routes from Vernal. the couple reached American Falls then faced 20 to 40 foot drifts. Road crews warned of weeks of closure, forcing return to Pocatello and Salt Lake City for care. A nurse and Mrs. Remington later returned to Vernal. The widow's husband remained for treatment. she recalled being grateful for any progress.

Last Minute Rush For License Plates Predicted
Uintah County assessor Eugene K. Sundquist warned of an imminent last minute rush for automobile license plates. Passenger plates are obtainable at the county building through February 28, after which owners must obtain tax release slips and mail to Salt Lake City. Sundquist urged proactive purchasers to file tax releases and plates in one step to save effort and avoid delays. Uintah Deer Situation Is Remarkably Good
Fred Reynolds, Utah game warden, reports Uintah county deer are in much better condition than expected after a south slope survey. Despite two and a half feet of snow, deer on the south slope appear healthy with little feed shortage yet. Heavy deer concentration in Brown's park and the north slope leads to trouble, including deaths from lack of food, while the south slope benefits from light hunting last fall.
