Services Held For Lapoint War Hero

Funeral services for Lapoint native St Ferris J. Harrison were held Friday at 1 p m in the Lapoint ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Harrisons body arrived from overseas Thursday evening and he was killed in the Pacific on December 16. He served in the navy since June 14, 1943 and trained at Farragut Idaho and Moffat Field California before going overseas July 3, 1944. Military rites were directed by Witbeck post No 11 of the American Legion with C D Anderson of Vernal in charge. The service included prayers, music, and remarks by Archie Johnson. The grave was dedicated by Orvill Swain.

Vernal Worker Narrowly Escapes Death

Ted Williams a Peyton Machine Shop employee in Vernal escaped serious injury Saturday when an acetylene gas explosion blew apart a small generator house behind the shop on east Main street. Williams was knocked under a wood roof section and survived as debris scattered. damage was estimated at $2000.

Conservation assistance urged to speed farm conservation

Vernal Woman, 78 Dies of Ailment

Mrs. W. F. Baker, 78, died of two heart attacks Wednesday around 9 a.m. in the trailer home behind 600 East Main. Her husband, ill and unable to care for himself, summoned help until Alton Beck forced open the locked door. No survivors are listed for Mrs. Baker.

Archbishop Archie Johnson presided over the Uintah stake quarterly LDS conference held Saturday and Sunday despite disappointment that Thorpe B Isaacson could not attend due to weather. Rescue pilot aids at drowning scene near Ouray

Gil bert Bennett flew a ski plane to the Green river scene of Ray B. Alf red's drowning near Ouray. Observers noted the plane could not get off the ground. Bennett assisted at the accident site until dark and could not fly out due to night.

Funeral services for Elsie Larsen Taylor in Roosevelt

Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Larsen Taylor 49 wife of George E. Taylor were held Tuesday afternoon in the Roosevelt ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ Latterday Saints. She died last Thursday in Roosevelt of a heart attack. Born in Lyman Wyoming she moved with her parents to Vernal and attended high school there. She married Taylor in 1920 in Myton. Survived by husband Lewis Taylor Roosevelt a daughter Barbara Kelly San Francisco and five brothers and sisters with families. Speakers included Presidents Celton and Dillman with prayers by Heber Hall and others.
