War Veteran Killed in Mine Accident
Philip Lorin Carruth 22 son of David Carruth and husband of Genevieve Webb Carruth was killed in an afternoon mine accident at Bonanza. Barker suffered severe injuries and was hospitalized in Basin. The men were alone in an up shaft when a cavein is believed to have dropped them about 110 feet. Carruth attended Utah High School and served in the Army Engineers in the CBI theater before discharge in 1945. He married Genevieve Webb Jefloka in 1946 and returned to Bonanza. Survivors include his widow, father, brothers, and several relatives. Funeral services were held Wednesday.

Funeral services held for Owen Bennion 76 longtime Uintah Basin figure and former Utah state legislator. Born 1689 in Eagle County, he lived in Tooele Roosevelt Mt Emmons and Sandy. Survived by two sons Evan O and Birch F Bennion a daughter Lois Fulmer and siblings Ida Chase Zina Cannon Archie Bennion and Milton Bennion. Burial at Mt Emmons area.

City Bakery, closed since 1942, will reopen Saturday under C Ray and J Bert Evans. The store has been remodeled with new bread and pastries featured. Evans Sr has lived in Provo since 1942 and Evans Jr was recently released after two and a half years in the navy. Mrs Evans, the former Helen Jones, lives with her parents Mr and Mrs E C Jones.

Girls Injured in Auto Accident Near Hodgkinson Corner
Marten Simmons sixteen and Rita York II sustained cuts shocks and bruises when the 1958 Buick sedan driven by Miss Simmons left the road and plunged into a ditch near Hodgkinson corner, east of town. They were treated at Basti Hospital. Simmons was ticketed by Sammy Hatch for permitting an unlicensed driver.

Rangely Worker Dies From Injuries In Pipe Accident
Elmet E Satchel, 31, died in a Salt Lake hospital from four broken backs and internal injuries after a truck loaded with pipe toppled on him at Rangely. He was driving for Gene Simpson Pipe Line Co and slipped under the truck while escaping as it rolled down an incline. Born in Saskatchewan, he lived in Garnet Kansas and served in New Guinea with the air corps. Burial arrangements made with his aunt Stella Lane in Garnet.
