Calls Seen This Month On Vernal Project Bid
A Utah legislature bill would establish a new state junior college near Roosevelt, moving to the Senate after an 0 to 1 vote. Critics say it adds chaos to a system needing overhaul, while sponsor Schmiett argues finance and need are evident for the 1962 63 school year. The Vernal Project bids are expected to open in April as the Bureau of Reclamation expands its Vernal office to handle preconstruction and staffing growth ahead of construction of the Breinaker Reservoir behind a 140 foot dam near Vernal.

Vernal Chamber Seeks Facts on Junior College Plan
After an executive session Vernal Chamber president Dwight L Wetenkamp told directors the group is neither for nor against the proposed junior college and requires more facts. The chamber sent telegrams to State Sen Stringham and Rep Sowards asking for details before a decision. An amendment to the junior college bill would fund studies and possibly move the 1962 63 start, delaying one year for assessment.
