Five Homesteaders File In Little Water Country
Saturday before Register Albert Halen of the US Land Office at Vernal Dr John E Morton and Luther A Pullins of Roosevelt Thomas Tyron Edwin Rushton Wardle and John Harmon Wardle of Myton filed their applications to make homestead entry on the Little Water about six miles north of La point. They plan to build a reservoir between the Little Water branch and the Burton ranch to irrigate the lands. Register Halen notes that nearly all land opened last fall in the Carey act project in Deep Creek and Little Water has been filed on leaving few good homesteads.

Pioneer of 1850 Taken by Death
Mrs Louisa Hougton Thomas, born March 15, 1840 in Nauvoo Illinois, died February 2 at her daughter’s home in Roosevelt after a long life as a Latter-day Saint. She came to Utah at age ten, married Madson Thomas, mother of eleven, veteran of the Black Hawk War, missionary to the Ute, and resident of Ashley Valley. Funeral was held February 5 at Glines ward meeting house with leaders and a large cortege interring at Glines ward cemetery.
