Frank Postma arrived from Pioyo to spend Christmas vacation with his mother and attend Brigham Young University.
Charles Qaks Bankee Colton and Walter Beardall of Provo are spending a few days visiting friends in Vernal.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Alexander have returned from Payson where they spent the Christmas holidays with Mrs Alexander's mother.
Mr and Mrs Ward Murray announce the birth of a baby boy on Thursday December 21. Both mother and child are reported to be doing nicely.

Mr and Mrs Tafé r Budge of Paris Idaho announce the arrival of a baby boy born Sunday December 24. Mrs Budge was formerly Miss Alice Mecham of Tridel.
Helen Henderson, aged 15, spends the Christmas vacation at home while preparing to enter Dee Hospital in Ogden for nursing training.
Miss Ethelyn Ashton, instructor at Murray school, is spending the Christmas vacation with her parents, Mr and Mrs Zynne Ashton.
Mrs Wrattie Paxman who had been visiting with her daughter Mrs Franklin Lewis and family for some time departed last week to return to her home in Salt Lake City.

County Clerk Carlstrom announced the last vital statistic checks were mailed to registrars covering records up to January 1 1933 after nine months of effort with state registrar Dr Beatty. He urged timely reporting of births and deaths to registrars to prevent past muddles and ensure proper records for passports life insurance burial permits and other needs. A registrar recounted a birth certificate request that could not be filled due to missing records and the need for a state certificate, highlighting the system's importance.
Richard Jensen, a United States Mali carrier and craftsman, spent years shaping a leather pulpit pad for Vernal First Ward's chapel. The intricate design features a basket of Utah's state flower in Lego figures, historical scrolls with dates from 1928 to 1933, a blank dedication line, and donor and contractor names. Architect and contractor are listed, and Kanépus called it a real piece of art after seeing the pad.
The message notes an error in listing Karlreece among Central school applicants for principalship. Mr Preece had no intention of leaving Maeser School and clarifies the situation, calling attention to the mistaken name and his current position.

Jacob W Olsen died Friday from gall stones and complications. He lived in Ashrey Valley since 1892. The service included prayers by John T Kay and William Gardiner, sung hymns, and remarks by Leslie Anderson A G Goodrich, Bishop Byron Goodrich and Lewis Gardiner spoke. Interment followed at Verna cemetery. Olsen was born June 11 1863 in Christiana Norway, immigrating to Utah in 1872.
LeRoy Kay of Carnegie Institute Pittsburgh has completed maps and data on the Uintah Basin geology. The works will appear in the museum annual report and in separate articles and maps for distribution. Kay will travel to Pacific coast cities after holidays to arrange exchanges of materials among museums.
Newton Brothers Company, makers of saddles, harness, cinchas and stirrups, has operated in Vernal since 1905 near the Gipson Hotel. Founders William and Isaac Newton moved shop four times into larger quarters, with craftsmen at work under foreman Raymond White in cincha and stirrup production. The firm built a national reputation, supplying Mohair cinchas to Hamley Saddle Company for Pendleton Round-Up saddles valued at $1500, and their cow boy boots, chaps and harnesses are known across the West.

Funeral services for Mrs Myrtle Bateman Curtis were held in the Vernal First Ward chapel under Bishop Pontha Calder. Speakers noted her church work and singing. pallbearers included Martin Wt. Curtis and Warren Richardson. Interment at Vernal cemetery. Curtis born May 26, 1895 in White River Colorado. nurse by training, lived in Bing ham. survived by husband, father Joseph Bateman, four children, and sister Vilate Kempton.

Commissioner Guy T Helvering says farmers and others slaughtering hogs for sale without paying the processing tax violate the Agricultural Adjustment Act. The tax applies to producers who slaughter or dispose of hogs, with penalties for evasion. violators should contact their district Internal Revenue collector to prepare and file returns.
