Chelius Hall Funeral Rites Held in Dry Fork
Funeral services for Chelius Hall pioneer of Ashley Valley were held Friday in the Mae ser chapel with Bishop Lester Bingham officiating. The service featured a raised chorus, selections including I Need Thee Every Hour and Face to Face, and a benediction by Joseph P Hacking before interment in Dry Fork Cemetery. Survived by wife and children Sally Caldwell Vernal Josh Hall Dry Fork Lyman Hall Lyman Wye Roxie McQuary Vernal Bert Caldwell Dry Fork and Sam Rolfe Vernal. born March 17 1849.

Road Work to Dinosaur Starts
The first P T A meeting of Central school was held Monday. Norman Olson presided as Mrs Frank Slaugh directed sixth grade songs. Mrs H E Seeley urged cooperation for the children. Mr TI Sander proposed hot lunches at low cost funded by families. New officers elected: Mrs Fred G Bingham president, Blaine Lee VP, Miss Bessie Noel secretary treasurer. Hot lunch committee formed. Miss Noel’s room won prizes for attendance. Next meeting set for January first Wednesday. monthly meetings thereafter. Peterson and family left for Salt Lake City and California to vacation, planning to see the Pasadena Rose Bowl game, return January 6.

Judge sentences Mac Naughton to indeterminate term
Monday afternoon Judge Abel Turner sentenced John E. MacNaughton to serve an indeterminate sentence of one to ten years at hard labor in the state penitentiary. The defendant, a former teacher at the Central school, was found guilty by a jury on a charge of altering marks on animals not his own to steal them. The defense argued for arrest of judgment, citing doubt about whether the crime occurred in Daggett or Uintah county. Stay of execution granted pending motion for a new trial to be argued in Provo around January 15.
