Second prize went to Paul M. pabatty for youth decor on 5th West. An outbreak of infectious hepatitis in Uintah Basin towns was reported by A Jenkins, state health official, with 15 cases in Duchesne Randlett and Whiterocks in 12 months and eight in Treosevelt recently. Isolation and boiled drinking water were advised where needed.

Everett Massey 52 and Miss Kay Massey describe that a dog and a baby were in the front seat when the cars collided. Kay Massey was 15 feet from the scene and injured alongside her sister.

A 66 year-old Vernal woman was treated after a crash involving a 1948 Dodge driven by John L. Dillin and a car driven by Bobby Pease in Vernal. The collision on 2nd Street sent two passengers on the Dillin car into the street, with the victim sustaining injuries and hospital care follow-up.

Funeral services held for Mrs Lea Ashton in Vernal
Funeral services for Mrs Lea Ila Ashton age 84 were held Thursday at 1 pm in Vernal Mortuary directed by Rev David Wayner of the Episcopal Church. Born April 15 1878 in Beaver she later lived in Arizona and Vernal where her husband founded the Leslie Ashton Hardware Co. Survivors include son Clarence Roosevelt granddaughter and 13 great grandchildren and two half siblings. Memorial Park in Vernal was chosen for burial.
