District Court Schedules Six 1925 Sessions

Wilson Murray, district court clerk, reports Judge Elias Hansen set six sessions for 1925 in Uintah county. Non jury matters occur at all sessions. jury cases may be heard with the judge’s consent, on specific Mondays in February June April August December. Judge-elect George P. Alfred S Carlson died Monday December one after months of illness in Vernal at the home of Mr and Mrs Jack Houston where he had lived for years. He was 65, born in Illinois, with few relatives known here and a divorced wife dying. Judge Hansen Grants Mercy to Fifteen Year Old Burglary Defendant

Judge Elias Hansen gave Dean Cols lard a 16 year old guilty of third degree burglary in Duchesne last week a indeterminate sentence of six months to three years and remitted the term pending lawful behavior. He must pay a quarterly fine while attending school with conditions. The boy's mother is dead and his father is absent.

Gas and Oils Showings in Ashley Valley Test Well

Gas flow sufficient to fire the sheller has been encountered at 677 feet in the Vernal Utah Oil Refining Company well in a sand eight feet thick within the Mancos shale. Hve oil shows were found in the shale above the gas horizon. Gas is combustible. samples sent to Salt Lake for analysis.

Roosevelt Commercial club building destroyed by Christmas morning fire

A Christmas morning fire consumed the Roosevelt Commercial club building with cement block construction, causing an estimated loss near six thousand dollars. Firefighters struggled due to water scarcity and extreme cold, threatening adjacent stores including City Drug and Roosevelt Standard. The club had recently invested in new furniture and equipment after purchasing the building for 3500.

Uintah Stake held a December quarterly conference at the Vernal Second Ward chapel. Charlt Haake was released from the bishopric. A Theodore Johnson left the Stake Sunday School Board to join the bishopric. I Sander was suspended as Sunday school superintendent with George N. Larsen and Jacob N. Lubbert as assistants. Dr. Harvey C. Hullinger noted for his 106th birthday address on Reminiscences of the Prophet Joseph Smith. Music by the Second Ward choir under Mrs. Georges Walker.

Additional Boiler for Rangely Reported

An additional boiler and three truckloads of supplies left Craig last week for the Midwest operations at Rangely. The Midwest deep tests allow the 12 inch casing at 1425 feet to set while the 15 inch casing is being pulled. Midwest hauling from Craig will be taken over by L. L. Mecker.

Sheriff Lafe Richardson accompanied Walter McCoy to Bast Lake ecity to collect prisoners Ernest Trujillo Net le Trujillo Elnora Van Harris Murray. On drifted snow they returned via Salina canyon. Richardson could not see the men again after reaching the penitentiary. They were pleased to leave Vernal jail but appeared glum at arrival.
