Plans Made by Utah Power and Light to Refinance
Utah Power and Light plans to refinance by issuing 44.0 million dollars in bonds, including 37.06 million in first mortgage bonds due 1973 and 7.0 million in general mortgage bonds due 1951. Proceeds would retire about 44.18 million in existing bonds of the Power Company and Utah Light and Traction, with no change to preferred stock and no new debenture issue. The plan contemplates acquisition of Utah Light and Traction and Western Colorado Power assets, dissolution of those companies, and removal of Utah Power and Light from holding company status. The firm serves 128 000 customers across 20 000 square miles in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming, interconnecting with Idaho Power and Montana Power.
