Pipeline Loop Finished Despite Severe Weather

Shoppers Unconcerned in Downtown Fire at Barnet’s Store

Firemen traced a smell of smoke to a burned ballast in the ceiling wiring near the Main Street entrance of Barnet’s Variety Store. Damage was limited to replacing the ballast, and the store briefly lost power as switches were cut. Mrs Barnett first noted the odor, which was thought to be a cigar.

Mumps Decline Reported in Ainish County

School Board Accepts Turner Bid For Alterra Elementary

Law bid of 285 500 for Alterra elementary construction was accepted Tuesday by the School Board. Turner Construction CosfUlli with Turner Building Sup Ply, Internal submitted the bid which included a 2 250 alternate lot. Basic bids ranged from 293 230 to 317 000. The award awaits approval from the San Francisco Housing and Home Finance Agency. Three people injured and two cars demolished in a highway crash south of Ft Teatshe on Us 104. A 1955 Chevrolet driven by Myron J. Brough struck a horse, a 1953 Dodge driven by Norton D. Shelton stopped to render aid, and a 1956 Ford owned by Ruth Chapoose rear ended Shelton’s car and rammed it 240 feet. Injured include Mrs. Chapoose with severe facial lacerations.

New Gulf Oil Service Station Opens in Vernal

Vernal welcomed a new Gulf Oil service station at Sixth East on Highway 40. Manager Ken Mortensen, with 20 years in the business, said the shop will specialize in lubrication and repair work and will host a brand opening soon. He previously ran Ken's Service Station.
