Uintah Uranium Corporation Formed With Woodey B. Searle President

Uintah Uranium Corporation formed in October 1954 with Woodey B. Searle of Vernal as president. Officers include Glen C. Bilis as vice president and director, Virgil G. Verman as secretary and director, Robert L. Carter as director, and Dr Tyrell R. Vernal as director. The company is authorized to issue common stock and holds 12 full body claims and 78 claims across about 180 acres on Asphalt Ridge six miles south of Vernal. Uranium mineralization found in a lenticular sandstone of the Mesa Verde formation, with outcrops on several areas.

Comic Operetta The Old Maid and the Thief Saturday Show

Equity Oil Company announces eight wildcat tests one quarter mile east of the Ashley Valley Field. President J. L. Dougan says the Norcee will be drilled to about 4500 feet in the Weber formation. Equity has held leases in the area since 1948 with some indications of fuel in nearby formations.

Santa Arrives by Plane in Vernal Saturday Morning

Santa Claus will arrive by plane at Vernal Airport at 11 30 a m Saturday for the first visit of the season. A special delegation will escort him to the Lagoriat Hall where local boys and girls will meet him and receive candy. Christmas lights along Main Street will be lit by the Junior Chamber of Commerce, which spent six days on the project. Utah Power and Light will provide free electricity from December 4 to January 1, illuminating 40 016 bulbs in 123 communities, with 7 396 bulbs in 25 southern area towns. The Jaycees thank the Vernal Chamber of Commerce, the City, and merchants for their support. Bert Carroll chairs the Jaycee Christmas Committee.

300 Attend first Vernal All Faith Thanksgiving Service with Kiwanis support. Rev Richaounder spoke as speakers urged gratitude beyond material blessings and noted the wartime meaning for Christians. The service included readings and music from local churches and the Kiwanis president.

Indian Prisoner Escapes and Is Recaptured Within Hours

A twenty year old Indian prisoner escaped from Do uty Sheriff Carl Staley on Main Street at 6 16 p m Saturday evening. He was recaptured at 11 p m less than a block from the escape point. The man identified as Richard Sieech also known as Nelson Root was taken to Vermon Saturday morning for temporary custody at Bus 3 tia jail. The escape occurred after deputies took four prisoners to a local parlor for an evening meal. one prisoner fled, was chased by officers and later recaptured. A city police officer on Main Street spotted a man matching the description and held him until backup arrived.

Vernal Armory to finish by December 15

The National Guard Armory at Sec ond South and Fifth East in Vernal is slated for completion by December 15 according to Gen. Maxwell Rich, Utah adjutant general. Contractor Child of Springville General and Col. Toa Whitesides briefed Rich during a routine visit, confirming the target date despite scheduling changes.
