A leading authority on farming and a magnetic speaker will address the assembled farmers on Tuesday September 5 1911. The event highlights the influence of innovative agricultural education in the region with emphasis on practical applications and community learning.
Mrs Kate Jean Boan Laib died at her Vernal home after a illness that puzzled doctors. Born May 18 1859 in New York she was married to Vesey A Kilke then to A Q Boan and left five children in Vernal. Funeral services were held at the Vernal Ward chapel with Rev M J Hersey presiding and speakers Sterling D. Ito and R S Colett Loh lauding her public service and vigorous character.
Dr John A Widtoo and a six member party of Utah agricultural educators arrive in Vernal to organize a two day series of talks and field sessions. The program outlines lectures by Ball Windsor and Meis til with field observations in Ashley Valley and surrounding farms. An audience of thousands is anticipated with events planned in Vernal Roosevelt and surrounding districts to promote agricultural progress.
The Vernal Commercial Club plans to exhibit Utah products at the Denver and Omaha Land Shows, Sept 8–30 in Denver and Oct 17–26 in Omaha. Delegates will coordinate harvest displays, fair participation, and a 10,000 copy report on Uintah Basin resources for distribution during the Denver exhibit.
