County Urges Maeser School Levies for Uintah District
Uintah county and Vernal Maeser School District levies are submitted to the Utah State Tax Commission for approval. Vernal’s is 18 mills with funds for safety streets park and pool. Maeser 8 mills. Officials say results look favorable but caution against optimism while awaiting further testing at Carter No 1 Bluebell and nearby No 1 wildest discovery well.

Richardson Rites Held Tuesday In Vernal Ward Chapel
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Margle Work Richardson a longtime Vernal resident and Relief Society member. She died Saturday night after an operation and stroke. Speakers included Jester A. Haws and Keri B. Preece with musical numbers by local performers. Burial took place at Rock Point cemetery Maeser. Survivors include five sons and a daughter and her mother Eliza Jacob Preece. Funeral arrangements were by Vernal Mortuary.

Robbery Attempt Halted At Uintah Creamery
An apparent robbery attempt at Uintah Central Cream was thwarted by Calder residents Paul Eesalads Calder and others at about 11 30 p m Wednesday. The youths, seen on bicycles, reported several sightings around 6 B and again near the time of the attempted break in. Lydia Rolle Shaffer, an early Ashley Valley resident and LDS church worker born in Lehi, died at age 85 Sunday. Survived by 12 children, 39 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren, funeral rites were held Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with tributes from church leaders and a mixed quartet performance.
