Foreman’s temper tests George Appleton’s resolve in Salt Lake
George Appleton, ex head of the shipping department in a plant, recalls a domineering foreman who ranted and swore. A New York office call about an export mistake led Appleton to attempt remedy, needing foreman cooperation. The foreman promised shipment by noon after a bold pledge, and a letter from the company president followed. The foreman’s attitude shifted thereafter, and Appleton’s persistence yielded a softened stance and favors.
