Mrs Lizzie Winn Hatch, 64, wife of Jerry Hatch, died after a prolonged illness at their Willow Creek home. They moved from Vernal eight to ten years ago. She leaves sister Adeline Hatch of Green River City Utah and brother A A Hatch of Verna. Funeral services were held Sunday.

Ashley Valley Pioneers plan semi centennial celebration
A committee met Wednesday at the Davis home to organize the Ashley Valley pioneers semi centennial event at the City and County park on Friday August 10. Those invited include pioneers up to 1879 80 and their 65 plus spouses. An estimated 300 attendees are expected with a main dinner at 1 pm and a pioneer program to follow. Committees were named for entertainment refreshments grounds transportation reception reading and finance with John WN Davis chairing transportation and Mrs John N Davis chairing reception. A follow up meeting is set for Friday at 7 pm and a permanent organization may be formed with a pageant planned for the fall.

A. W. Powers Pioneer Stockman Dies
A. W. Powers, well known Rangely Meeker stockman and pioneer, died after a second stroke of paralysis received the prior week. Born in 1860 in Richland Center Wisconsin, he moved to Colorado at age one and settled in Rangely Meeker in 1885. He was married to Catherine Wahl in 1903. burial took place July 25 in Fruita Congregational church officiated by Rev S. H. Herbert.
