County weed spraying in Uintah County announced
The Uintah County Weeds Department begins spraying county right of ways and weeds. Objections to sprays near property should be directed to the Weeds Department. Uintah County approves Edwards Daniels hospital plan in 36 bed project
The Uintah County Commission approved Edwards Daniels Associates of Salt Lake City to proceed with preliminary hospital plans. The project covers a 36 bed acute care facility with remodeling of the old heating plant, estimated at 2.37 million dollars. Bonding will fund the project with a voter election likely in August or later and bids expected early 1978.

Two Fires Reported In Vernal Range About $20 000 Each
Over past week Vernal area fires caused about $20 000 in damages at two main incidents. A stove pipe fire at 855 N 2500 West damaged the Bodily home with $15 000 structure loss and $3 000 net. a Jensen poultry farm coop blaze near April 17 caused $20 000 in coop damages started by weeds. Minor fires extinguished include trash can at Dave White residence and several grass fires around local properties.

Fire season begins early in Utah under state controls
Utah State Forestry and Fire Control announces the statewide fire season starting May 1 at 2 32 a.m. with permits required for any open burning. Permits available from County Fire Warden, Fire Department, or Sheriff and must follow the State Clearing Index. When index is under 500 burning is prohibited and over 560 burning is allowed. Due to extreme dryness authorities warn of heightened fire risk and may adjust rules as conditions change.
