Newell Behunin manager of Hotel Vernal and Dat Coonradt chef attended the 1960 convention and exposition of the Utah State Restaurant Association on March 28 at the Hotel Utah Motor Lodge Salt Lake City. Conference covered restaurant problems with leaders from the National Restaurant Association and other specialists. Mrs Behunin and Mrs Coonradt accompanied their husbands to all meetings.

Robbery Alarm Prompts Police Hunt For Suspects
Five year old Becky Jo Gebhardt slept through a violent home invasion as two or more men ransacked a fuse box and demanded money. They held Mrs Eskelson at knifepoint before fleeing, cutting the telephone line and threatening to return. Police, aided by neighbors, gathered descriptions of the blond suspects as investigators pursued leads. Mrs Eskelson stayed in hospital then returned home, while the case remained active under the city chief and county sheriff. Her sisters from Evanston later visited.

Clay Robinson six year old grandson of Earl and (unknown) Chivers Vernal died in Salt Lake City private pool. Services were held in Kearns and graveside at Tridell cemetery. He is survived by Deloss Chivers Vernal Inez Trujillo Chivers Robin son parents grandparent and two sisters Karen May Denisa.

Uintah High School hosted a spring concert in the auditorium on April 6 directed by Mrs Ets. The 55 member chorus performed varied music from pop to religious alongside the UHS band. Helicopter Survey Tracks Insect Infestation In Soapstone Area
The Soapstone region near Hanna faced a spring infestation moving through Ashley and Uintah forests. The Forest Service logged 23 million feet of spruce from affected zones between 1955 and 1959, and in 1958 used a helicopter, the Miller 28, to locate infestations. The outbreak involved a beetle species different from the Judgepole pine attack, with the helicopter designed for high altitude work and rapid fuel use.
