For the first time in 45 years a Land Examiner from the Department of Interior will be based in the Bureau of Land Management Vernal District. Tom Owen, formerly Vernal District Forester, takes the post to handle field examinations of public land applications and related cases. The move, announced by District Manager O dell A Frandsen, will speed exams and provide local public land information to residents seeking desert land entries homesteads sales and other dispositions. Local inquiries are welcome at the Vernal district office.

Mr and Mrs Kier returned from a four month tour that began in Vernal and included ten days with friends in Arkansas. They spent two months in Sarasota Florida, a period in Fort City Florida, and time on the Florida Keys. They traveled up the east coast visiting Norfolk and the Carolinas, visiting eight states in total.
