Mauled Dog Catcher Gets Dream Gun in Uintah County
Fred Reynolds the Uintah County dog catcher boasts battle scars yet welcomes a humane tranquilizer rifle. The weapon shoots darts that render roaming dogs unconscious for 15 to 20 minutes, enabling capture without rabies risk. Reynolds notes 50 yard accuracy and calls it safer than ropes, with reels for reloads and broader dog handling cases. He has managed 378 dogs in two years, with 70 percent females, and stresses dog licenses remain due.
