Reminiscences of icicles and old home building methods
From Mira Mary Stewart of Chi cago I recall huge icicles over doors and windows. The iman would break them with long poles to avoid injuries when they fell. C B Sharpe of Sturgis writes of a farmer building a house by hand, logs sawed at a slash mill run by water power. Mrs C M Edwards of Elvett recalls youthful campaign fervor with Morrison and Cleveland buttons and gold standard debates.

Utah Tax Report Notes 2.5 Percent Increase in Collections
The Utah State Tax Commission reports a 2.5 percent overall rise in tax collections for the period ending March 31, 1950, despite declines in income and corporate taxes from 1949 to 1950. Sales tax climbs 15.6 percent, aided by increased consumer buying, while motor fuel tax falls 35.5 percent due to timing of credits. Delays in quarterly installments by some corporations partly explain the income and corporate shortfall, and Kennecott Copper and Park City mine closures are cited as concurrent factors.

Fragmented Tax Figures from Historical Ledger
Disjointed OCR fragments show mentions of taxes collected diverted to funds including road, general, and uniform school, with percentages like 7.3 and 8.2 percent for fiscal years. References to March dates and years 1950 and 1980 hint at historical fiscal data but specifics are unclear due to text garble.
