Death of Lorenzo B McNaughtan is noted in Salt Lake

The death of Lorenzo B McNaughtan at Salt Lake Hospital is reported. He was 72, born in Dundee Scotland, lived in Vernal Utah, and worked in mining and cattle before settling in Vernal. Survivors include his widow Mary Ann, children Lorenzo, W J, Wren, John E ModNaughtan, and Mary Langford, with several grandchildren. Funeral held at Larkin chapel Salt Lake on April 6 with interment at Wanatch lawn cemetery.

Western county pleas for extended school term

April Term of Court Held in Vernal-Finished in Three Days

The April term of the Fourth Judicial district sat at the Vernal court house with Judge Edlag Hansen and officials from Provo. Death of Mina Wells After Flu Leads to Brights Disease

Mina Wells of Palisade died at Vernal after a winter visit with Mr and Mrs Ernest Bristol following a flu illness from which Brights disease developed. She had earlier visited Vernal with Mr and Mrs Bristol and spent the winter with them at the Steinaker draw. Ernest Bristol traveled to Palisade for the funeral services held Wednesday with interment. A large group of friends from Meeker Rifle Grand Junction and other towns attended. Floral tributes were sent to Palisade as tokens of love.

Nav U BIC Officers Hold First Fort Duchesne Meeting

The first meeting of the new officers of the UBD IC was held at Fort Duchesne Tuesday night to outline plans for a big August convention. Campbell Sitater was named grounds committee chair. Mrs Jane Murray will lead the ladies work. EF Peterson heads the program committee. Two departments were formed for finance and advertising, though chairs were not chosen due to Ray F Olllman's absence. The group plans a new feature for the convention and notes the event has become a major basin gathering promoting friendship and information. The report lists mourners for Miss Myrtle Welle and relatives including Mrs Ernest Bristol and Roscoe Wells.

County Agencies Agree on Vernal Manila Road Financing

County commissioners approve a cooperative agreement with the Forest Service to build the Vernal Manila road. They set aside 1024 for surveying and 8976 for construction totaling 10000, plus 2600 valued by Daggett county, with federal matching bringing the project cost to 44090. The work will be directed by the Bureau of Public Roads and start as weather permits.
