A statewide push promotes Utah made goods from April 1 to 6 under the banner Utah Products Week. The campaign, backed by business and civic groups, urges window displays, local patronage, and a home industry focus to showcase Utah products and strengthen regional commerce.
The annual stockholders meeting in Ranchett Utah elected Richard A Leigh president and R Worn and T O Donne to the board. Mrs Sarah M Logan was rejected as secretary and NJ Meagher became treasurer. A $212,009 bond was ratified to complete the project with bonds placed through Western Real Estate & Securities Co. Water by May 1912. The delinquent sale has been postponed to April 10 1912.
The Vernal hospital nucleus is established under Uintah County Medical Society leadership with Dr Homer to Tech video Christy and others guiding the project. A single operating room, sterilizing room, laboratory, two private rooms, a kitchen, and a possible emergency bedroom will be ready, with plans for later expansion and shared use by local physicians and businessmen funding larger equipment. The operating area is being prepared with white oilcloth walls, tiled ceilings, and hard white enamel to ensure cleanliness.
A jumbled local digest covers visits, farming ventures, and community events. Topics include leases on Indian Beach farms, a Pioneer Nursery visit with large tree orders, school and church notices, births, illnesses, and a Candymaker Siney Lewis expanding Vernal confectionery business with fresh taffy demand.
Councilman W H Coltharp nicknamed Ilorace or Norrie is said to have discovered a rib shortage while discussing perfection. The rumor links his pursuit of Mrs Italley Webster of Texas who visited Ella Coltharp, and locals claim he suspected Ailsa Webster of Weatherford as his other half. Coltharp then left for Weatherford to pursue his ideal of perfection.
Vernal City Council, led by Mayor David Bennion, debates denying renewal licenses for three pool halls citing law violations and moral concerns. The council considers actions to curb bootlegging and maintain dry-town enforcement, while noting potential displacement of patrons.
A Vernal boy trades into saddlery via Archie Roosevelt in Mesa. Traaves Vrd, now in Mesa, will ship a Wild West saddle to Mr. Roogo elt for the presidents private use. Roosevelt ordered a Western saddle after meeting a local saddlemaker and praising an earlier piece.
A community effort began to fund and improve the ball park and organize a five team league including Vernal Maeser Gines Dry- Fork and Naples. City officials plan a city wide cleanup day to boost civic pride and clear debris with rules on dumping and use of the city dump ground.
Vernal City man Singleton was found guilty of bootlegging after a trial before Judge Nebeker and a jury. The defense argued credibility of witnesses. sentencing set for May 2 with a $250 fine. Several drunks were fined or jailed. federal cases adjourned and a related charge against Rich dismissed.
In court this morning witnesses doubted the defendant J A Wilson Bick was drunk. The defendant staggered and needed support, but city witnesses could not positively confirm intoxication.
Trench Day at the UIntah Stake Academy saw students with shovels and axes dig several hundred feet of drain around the west side of the new building. The trench reaches six and a half feet in some spots to keep the basement dry. At noon, ladies served a banquet with April Moolery.
First year students nailed a flag to the pole at Uintah Blake Academy and fought off upperclassmen in a tug of war. Sterling Collett fainted during the pole release but recovered. upperclassmen claimed unfair play while the lower classmen prepared a commencement tug across the canal.
Ten passengers from Vern embark on a long journey with autos and stages. Breakdowns and river crossings force a mix of auto and stage travel, delays, and finally arrival at Dragon with meals and warm hospitality at Mack Hotel. Overnight plans and early morning departures create fatigue, especially for the women.
Two mud slides block the Uintah Railway at the summit on both sides this week though no track damage is reported. Easter services at Congregational Church include Sunday school at 0 45 and a full morning program with sermons and music.
