Art Collection Unveiled at Vernal Central School
A valuable art collection funded by the Ella Quale Van Cott Memorial group and Utah Art Institute will be placed in Vernal’s Central School. The gift, valued around 1500, requires community support of 200 from Vernal residents. The project honors Mrs Van Cott’s legacy of promoting Utah art in public schools.

Four Brush Fires Reported With One Serious Blaze
Over the past week four fires were reported including two brush fires near Ashley Creek and Vernal Avenue and two house fires. The most serious fire damaged the roof of Richard Gilbert’s Chick-Lory and a George Freestone residence fire caused over 100 in damages due to a faulty flue. Local residents and visitors attended the State school supervisors convention in Salt Lake.

George W Perry a farmer and former school board member died at his home on Thursday at age 81. He was born in Springville Utah and moved to Ashley Valley in 1805. He is survived by his widow Charlotte Palmer Perry and several children in Salt Lake City Clive San Diego Long Beach Elden Ogden and Ogden area. Funeral services will be held at the Glines Wall Chapel.

Hogs Bring Strong Prices at Local Stockyard sale
Eleven pure bred Poland China hogs from Mrs Elle Stringheao were shipped to the Union Stock Yards at Galt Lake. Eight hogs averaged 2 1/2 pounds each at 15 1/2 cents per pound and three averaged 270 pounds at 14 3/4 cents per pound. The six month old hogs were fed chopped grain and Purina supplement from a self feeder. Mrs Lille Bigelow and Mrs Donna Hartle visited Monday.
