The Auditor of Van Wert County Ohio invites sealed bids from May 9 to June 7 1884 until 10 am for erecting a frame barn at the county infirmary farm. A Saturday dispatch reports a burglary wave in Upper Sandusky with thefts from George Alscras and Mrs. Venstein. Items stolen include clothing cash and a horse later recovered. several residences suffered entries but few valuables taken. About a dozen suspects have been detained though link to the crimes remains unproven.
Daniel Twogood of Canastota arrived in town behind two bright red three year old Devon steers hitched to a side bar carriage. The team, trained by Twogood this spring, is gentle yet spirited and capable of five to six miles an hour. They are housed at the Dixon House and driven with a delicate overdrawn rein system.
