Five-Year-Old Sap Accident At Russell’s Grave Picnic
Judge Whitely’s son Mathias aged about five was fatally kicked by a horse during a Sunday school picnic in Russell’s Grave. While playing near HH P Gage’s pony, he grabbed a larger horse by its tail, was kicked, fell, and died within minutes. The tragedy cast gloom over the gathering and drew community sympathy.
