Assault On Kohn Sparks Arrest In Mockerdy Election Row
In Meredith a brutal assault left Samson Kohne bleeding after a dispute with John Brown and George Marshall near the Mad dox creek bridge. Marshall struck Kohne with a heavy whip while threatening to kill him over election talk. Brown intervened and Kohne was taken to town for treatment. Marshall faces assault with intent to kill charges and is bound over to common pleas court. James Tolan, a respected Carrollton resident, died at about 87 in his home on South Washington Street after a long life active in local politics and families. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church with interment at Woodland.
