John Clark, a longtime Van Wert County resident born in Madison County, died suddenly Saturday evening after being stricken near his back door. A nephew nearby summoned help. Amsbaugh Named Assistant County Agent for Van Wert

J. L. Amsbaugh an agricultural instructor from Moline near Toledo has been appointed by the Ohio State University extension department as assistant county agent for Van Wert county for an indefinite period. He began work this morning in the office of County Agent W. R. Phares and plans to move his wife and four year old child to the area soon. He graduated from Ohio State in 1938.

Blame Broken Axle Triggers Delphos Car Crash

A broken axle on a car driven by Harry Armentrout of Van Wert caused a Sunday morning crash near Delphos. The vehicle sustained heavy damage but all occupants, including Garl McCabe and Mrs. Della Johnano of West Main, escaped injuries while heading to Bluffton.

Pastors Re assigned to Local Churches in Indiana Conference

The Rev. F. I. Willmert and the Rev. E. C. Kunce were reassigned to pastorates in Van Wert county following the Indiana conference of the Evangelical church held at Rochester Indiana. Former Police Chief Sam I Baxter dies at 89

Gamuel Marion Baxter, former police chief of this city, died at 323 South Shannon Sunday evening at 6 30. He would have turned 90 on May 26. Born in Allen county, he served as county sheriff and city police chief, later a Jackson township farmer, and was a long time member of First M church and Masonic lodge. Survived by widow, a brother Charles L Baxter of Lima, a sister D E Roselle of Hudson, Mich., two daughters Vestella Wigie of Santa Monica, Ida Baxter of Lima, and Mary Baxter of Lima with three great grandchildren. Census of Farm Residents in REA Survey Planned

The REA survey will name every farm owner and tenant in Van Wert county on a special mailing list. A rural electrification program aims to bring power to hundreds of farms, said Milo Blackmore of Sinkin township at a Saturday night meeting in the courthouse. Nine men from each township will conduct the survey. 660 persons had previously expressed interest.

Three Antwerp Women Die In Fort Wayne Crash

Three Antwerp residents Mrs. John Swish 565 her daughter Vesta Swish 30 and foster daughter Dorothy Leslar 14 were killed when their car stalled in a rain soaked curve east of Fort Wayne after being struck by a second vehicle driven by Alvin Thomas 22 of Waterville. Mrs. C L Marts 43 of West Second Street died at 2 30 this morning in Van Wert County Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Oak Harbor she lived in the city 25 years.
