A fragmented menu listing corn juice dishes and various tobacco plugs with prices and quirky items. It mentions breakfast items like corn juice, Nimrod, Vaees plugs, and smoking tobacco preparations, plus a few pastries or cakes and miscellaneous goods. The scene reads as a curious, period style item with odd pricing and product names.

Fourth of July Fireworks and Parachute Debacle at Van Wert

A Fourth of July celebration in Van Wert featured a gun salute by Capt. David Rison and Cols. Anschutz and Jackson, a long parade led by O. D. Swartout and W. H. Mozier, and a balloon ascent that failed after a dramatic, unsafe parachute drop. Despite balloon trouble and a misfired display, crowds enjoyed a pyrotechnic show, a bicycle race won by Byron Smith, and a robust industrial parade with many local firms participating.

Inferno in Delphos: Livery Barn and Brick Block Destroyed

A Fourth of July fire devastated Henry Kundert’s livery barn and damaged John Sharger’s brick block, with angels of flame leaping through the wind. Firefighters battled the blaze amid shifting winds, saving some properties but leaving Kundert with about $2,000 in losses and Sharger around $3,000, plus limited insurance. The blaze also touched nearby outbuildings, threatening much of the First Ward before being controlled. Also reported were deaths in the community, including Israel P. Adam, Rev. E Litzman, and Rev. Y B Riley, with details on their funerals and survivors. A te a room dwelling offer appears at the end.
