Dublin lecture to be delivered at Fort Wayne venue

Fire destroys Lima two story brick building
Fire discovered Thursday evening at eight in the northeast corner of a two story brick building owned by B. McKnifey. J. C. Maser occupied the second story as an undertaker shop. the first story was vacant. Fire spread from the stairway area and the roof was burned off. The fire department fought the flames with two engines, water, and extensive removal of damaged property. The tower ceiling and floors suffered heavy water damage. the building’s walls remained, with the upper structure largely ruined. Insurance covered much of the loss, with the undertaker’s loss estimated between three and four thousand dollars and the upper stories of surrounding properties also damaged or flooded. Residents, businesses, and institutions in the area faced smoke and water exposure, with several affected residents relocated for safety. A busy night of cold, fire-fighting effort followed, highlighted by rapid response and substantial water use.
