Lawrence Zimmerman a farmer living two miles east of Defiance reported seeing a panther the other night. His description matched Nelson Miller who first reported the animal on Ayersville road last Monday night. The creature was about three feet long eighteen inches high and weighed about seventy five pounds with tracks about three times a house cat’s size.

Friends in this city were informed of the death of C. M. Chown of Lima who died Tuesday morning at his home 413 Baxter street after a seven week illness. He was 87 years old. His widow survives with a daughter Mrs. Lutz who died last year. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p m in the Davis Miller and Son cathedral chapel with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.
