Friday September 20 is Seed Corn Day in Grant county with meetings in every township. C Henry of Purdue urges selecting seed from standing stalks and harvesting early to avoid frost. Harry Gray, county agent, notes the season is two weeks ahead of normal and advises using Indiana adapted varieties and sourcing seed from neighbors who planted Indiana corn.

Missing Woman Located Near Landersville

Mrs. Bertha Wright aged 20 who vanished several days ago was found at the home of friends. She is the wife of William Wright and lived with him on the Asbury Bradford farm near Landersville. The couple, married less than a year, previously lived in Lebanon Kentucky. Officers suspect mental derangement and report no prior trouble between them.

Younger Men Registered for Second Conscription District

Registration of men aged 18 to 45 last Thursday added 2 026 names to the conscription rolls. Of the total, 1 996 were native born citizens and 8 naturalized. 14 aliens filed first papers. Most registrants were 18 and 19, with no entries for several ages. Countries named by declarant aliens include Belgium England Scotland Canada Russia Germany and others. Precinct tallies show 16 52 and 67 registrants respectively.
