First Annual Farmers and Merchants Fair Enchants Van Buren

Van Buren hosts three day fair with world visitors. Exhibits of livestock poultry rabbits and farm products praised as finest in years. Seven free acts and a parade mark a busy schedule with Farmers Day Friday and Home Coming Saturday. Local officials commended for decorations and organization.

Hardware changes hands in Van Buren sale

Van Buren Hardware Co. formerly owned by J. E. Burket is sold to Walters and Warden of Wheatfield Indiana. James Walters and Carl Warden now run the store. Walters moved his family from Wheatfield to occupy the West Main street premises vacated by S. E. Maggart.

Free Street Fair Official Program Parade and Acts Schedule

The program lists daily events for the Free Street Fair with parades, hog sales, athletic and free acts, band concerts, and a high wire act by Edward LeRoy on various streets and times from Thursday through Saturday. An airplane display and a carnival finale close the schedule.

Billiter's Charge Fully Disproved in Indiana Federation Probe

A ten member committee of Indiana farmers found Benjamin Bilster's accusations against the Indiana Federation of Farmers Associations unfounded. The panel praised officers for faithful service, noted some justified criticisms, and affirmed the federation's growth to about 70 000 members since its 1919 start. The Hoosier Farmer Organized publication should continue to keep members informed.

Michael Doyle dies after weeklong illness at home

Michael Doyle aged 74 died Tuesday at his Van Buren Township home after a weeklong illness from a stroke. He was born May 12 1850 in Van Buren and married Evangeline Marsh in 1879. Surviving are his widow two sons Fremont and Joseph six grandchildren a brother and a sister. Funeral services were held at a nephew’s home in the morning, Rev. Hicks officiating, with burial in Van Buren cemetery.

Meeting Postponed for Farm Federation in Salamonte

The Farmers Federation of Salamonte township postponed its meeting from Friday October 8 to Friday October 18. The gathering will take place in the Warren library assembly room and all members are urged to attend.

Orchestra Program Delights Warren Church Audience

The Christian church orchestra in Warren under Miss Helen Lines presented a strong concert at the opera house on Saturday night.
