County Sunday Schools Name New Officers
Grant County Sunday School Association held a strong meeting at the Van Buren Methodist Church with notable speakers led by field secretary A T Albertson. Marion's First Christian team won the half mile relay, 2 24, earning the Unger cup for three consecutive wins. Fairmount Friends were second and Van Buren Methodists third. Officers elected for the coming year include President C P Ryan and various vice presidents, secretary treasurer Erma Spahr, and division heads from several churches and communities.

Methodists to Hold Ice Cream Supper Instead of Bean Soup
The Methodist Sunday School altered plans from bean soup to an ice cream supper. A recent Sunday School contest ended in a tie, so the school will entertain itself with ice cream and cake and a special program this Friday evening at the church open to all attendees.

Hardware Store Changes Hands in Van Buren
One of the area’s largest business deals ends Booz and Pike ownership of Van Buren Hardware Co. The stock is sold to Demaree of Jennings County, then quickly transferred to Hultz of Marion and ultimately to the Summer Snodgrass Realty Company of Marion. Booz adds a 175 acre Jennings County farm. Pike stays on as part owner and manager of the business briefly before further changes. D. W. Boxell assists at the store during the transition.

Teachers 10 Get Salary Advance at Marion Township Commencement
At the Marion High School auditorium on June 12 the county commenced a schedule of township commencements with several dates and locations. Harrison Smith of Sweetser was selected as attendance officer over Jesse Pemberton of Jonesboro by an 8 to 6 vote. The board recommended fair salary increases for teachers.

Eggs Headed to Huntington Amid Rail Strike Embargo
L. E. Furnish, wholesale produce dealer, hauled eggs toward Huntington on the Erie line when a railroad strike imposed an embargo. He had three carloads on hand Saturday but managed to find an outlet via an alternate road.

District Meeting of Pythian Sisters in Bluffton May 11
The Pythian Sisters district meeting will be held in Bluffton on Tuesday May 11. Child dies at two days old in Bluffton
Robert Eugene Pace, two day old son of Karl and Elsie Pace of Bluffton, died at 7 AM Friday. The body was taken by automobile to Van Buren for burial Saturday morning. Mr and Mrs Pace previously lived here.

Harvey S Miller Pneumonia Victim After Flu
Harvey Sylvester Miller born September 29 1877 in Clinton county Ohio died May 1 1920 at age 42 following influenza and pneumonia. He lived in Van Buren Oklahoma most of life worked in oil fields and was a member of the Odd Fellows. Funeral at home conducted by Rev J O Campbell with cemetery rites by the Odd Fellows in Van Buren.

Frank LeFavour Injured in Marion Motorcycle Crash
Frank LeFavour of an automobile company in Marion sustained painful injuries last Thursday afternoon while riding a motorcycle. The new stock bike had not been fully adjusted and a sudden obstacle in the street caused the rider to lose control, throw him from the machine, and drag him a considerable distance. His left knee and leg suffered scratches and tears.
