Van Buren Choral Club to Perform Ruth Cantata

The Van Buren Choral Club directed by Miss Bertha Wolk will present the cantata Ruth on Saturday March 28 at 8 15 pm. soloists include Lois Eshelman and Cecile Palmerv with a large chorus and orchestra members Trace Draper Ned Conwell Noble Riley. The piece features a notable wedding chorus and a strong choir turnout.

Jacob Pouless Sells Old Books and Relics

Mr. Jacob Pouless, 80, living on a farm after his wife’s death, renewed his subscription on Saturday. He owns relics including a 1647 German Catechism, an old bean and shuttle, a pewter plate over 100 years old, and other books from two to three centuries ago. He plans to dispose of the items to buyers.

General stock sale at Slifer and Johnson barn

Wall Paper-Conwell and Paxton announce a wide sale to be held at the Slifer and Johnson barn on Wednesday April 1. Col J F Cook and J F Groff will conduct a general sale of live stock farm implements and any article farmers wish to sell. Entry fees apply to horses 1 or 2 dollars, cattle 50 cents to 1 dollar, others proportionally. Entries may be made before the day of sale.

Creamery tester Creath tops Purdue exam results

M. P. Creath of the Van Buren Creamery took the Purdue University cream testing exam under the new law and scored 205 of 300, the highest mark among local entrants. Conrad has not yet taken the test, but plans to next week. others from Van Buren also sat for the exam, with Creath the sole passing candidate.

Hamaker Moves Bank Initiative to Van Buren

Mr. Harry Hamaker cashier of Farmers Trust Co. rented the former Harry Sullivan property on West Vine Street and plans to move to Van Buren by the first of the coming month. The new bank likely won’t be ready before May 1.

Two Van Buren youths finish pharmacy studies in Indianapolis

Through School This Week Messrs Cary Duckwall and Von Pilkington will complete their studies in the School of Pharmacy at Indianapolis this week. They will return to Vin Buren and both will be connected with the City Drug Store owned by Robt Pilkington this summer. We understand the boys have applied themselves diligently at college and made most creditable records. They are both Van Buren boys and have our heartiest congratulations.
