Campbell seek adoption of 13 year old Bernice Ruthelan Fedford

John O Campbell and Bessie J Campbell seek court permission to adopt Bernice Ruthelan Fedford aged 13 of Point Isabel. They state the girl is their niece and has lived with them seven years. Her mother died in infancy and the father has not visited in seven years. Bernice lived with Rev J O Campbell and wife during five years of the pastorate.

Four Flatland Fishermen Return With Thirty Five Fish

Sweetser Indiana June 21 Four men Hugh Lanning Glen Breedlove Arthur Riggs and Frank Bechtel from this town fished at Manitou lake Sunday. They returned with 35 fish but spent 70 dollars for the trip two dollars per fish after a broken Ford axle kept them overnight. They used a compressed air tank to start the car and to inflate tires on the way home.

Farmers meeting at Roll opens with Flag Day parade

Fifty children with flags led the Roll farmers meeting on Tuesday evening, followed by community singing led by Virgil Alexander. The program included patriotic and old time songs, readings by Frank Forkner Abe Futrell and John Lewis, and selections by the five Brown brothers of Roll.

Funeral of John Curless near Van Buren

The funeral for John Curless of near Van Buren, brother of Marion Curless of Swayzee, was held at the M E church in West Liberty last Sunday afternoon. Burial followed in the cemetery north of West Liberty. Attendees from the area included Marion Curless, Mr and Mrs Wm Milnes, May A Echelbarger, Lewis Matchett, H C Coate and family, and Mr and Mrs W B Curless.
