Dillman Church announces a children's program for Sunday evening July 20. Recitations songs and dialogues by children feature Lela Turner Maggie Chopson Kenneth Share and many others. The event includes a silver offering and a variety of performances by local youths.

Jonathan Wearly Dies at Swayzee Civil War Veteran

Civil War veteran Jonathan Wearly died July 8 1919 at Swayzee Indiana after a life lived in Huntington and Grant counties. Funeral services were held July 10 at the Swayzee M E Church with Rev Norman McClain and Rev Lyddle in charge. interment at Thrailkill cemetery. He was born June 26 1846 in Preble County Ohio and leaves a wife Rachel Gardner three children Loretta Butler Perry Wearly and Rev Robert Wearly 13 grandchildren and several siblings.

Nine Lives Lost As Auto Kills Cat In Town

Local report notes a car ran over and killed a cat last Wednesday. Willie Knight spent days fishing along the Mississinewa giving away fish and preferring catching to eating. The town reports an improving scene with daily bread wagon service except Sunday.

Oklahoma Visitors Tour via Ozark and Pendleton Pike

Mr and Mrs Ovid Harvey and Mr and Mrs F D Ward of Sapulpa Oklahoma visit relatives here for a few weeks. They drove from Oklahoma nine years after leaving this place traveling by automobile through Kansas City St Louis and other points. They report all the Harvey boys in Oklahoma well. Frank Haynes of Bridgeport Illinois stopped here for a short visit with Mr and Mrs J E Riley and says his family will visit soon.

State Commission Nixes Gardner Road Bond Issue

Indiana tax commissioners in Indianapolis on Monday refused to approve bonds for Gardner road in Van Buren township. Estimated cost of the improvement is 21300 dollars. Several Grant county roads were denied including two in Fairmount township, while Hillsamer road in Washington township with an estimated cost of 12500 dollars was approved.

Mr and Mrs J J Riley and Mrs Noble Riley report Noble Riley landed at Hoboken New Jersey on July 12 after serving in France. He was in a hospital there before returning to the United States and is expected to be discharged and go home soon.
