Supreme Court voids horizontal increases in Indiana tax assessments
The Indiana Supreme Court ruled the horizontal increase provision of the state tax law unconstitutional, upholding Marion County Court injunctions to block increased tax collections. The decision may force refunding of previously collected funds and leaves county budgets short, pending legislative action. Farmers from Washington township, Marion County, sparked the case by seeking the injunction against higher valuations.
