Funeral for Lona Atkinson noted in Van Buren

Lona Atkinson of Van Buren died Friday morning in Oklahoma City after an operation. Born February 3, 1865 near Upland Indiana she taught in Van Buren Marion Upland and Matthews schools. Survived by three brothers Burr Charley Frank and sister Mrs Everett Beck. Funeral at family home south of Van Buren Tuesday at 1 30 led by Rev J O Campbell burial at Atkinson cemetery north of Upland.

Mrs Kirkpatrick Dies in Chicago After Tuberculosis Fight

Mrs. Wiliam Kirkpatrick died at her mother's home in Chicago Tuesday night after a long tuberculosis battle. The couple had moved from Van Buren to Oklahoma last fall seeking better climate but found no relief. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was popular in Van Buren and her death shocks friends. Mr. Kirkpatrick was in Van Buren at her death and then traveled to Chicago. Remains will be brought to Van Buren for burial. funeral details are pending.

Freshmen rout Gas City in Friday night game

Captain Ballard guided the Freshmen to a 10 to 6 victory over Gas City Freshmen. Local lineup included Ballard Rumple R Peters Nelson and Sparks as guards and centers, with the game played at Gas City.
