Methodist Sunday School Sees High Attendance Growth

The Methodist Sunday School reported 217 present last Sunday with an optimistic outlook for a record year. Miss Ilo Elzey of Ossian sang a beautiful solo and the Young Married People class led by Mr. W F Williamson drew 37 attendees as it launches a membership campaign for next week.

Library Board Sets Timeline for New Van Buren Facility

The Van Buren public library board met twice this week and ordered books and magazines for the new structure. Opening is likely in about six weeks with interior painting underway and a basement assembly room for public gatherings. A rest room and toilet facilities will serve patrons. a librarian has not yet been chosen.

Van Buren and Converse High School News Review

Converse High School reports end of first semester with exams last Thursday and Friday. The 6 foot 4 inch Van Buren opponent hindered local play as the Converse team, led by guards and forwards, lost to a taller foe. Rock Creek Center visit on Saturday promises a strong Huntington county matchup at 7 30 p m. A fire alarm disrupted classes briefly before students returned to study and plans for last semester changes remain undecided.
