Farmers' Institute of Van Buren Township Elects Officers

Robert W. Bradford is named president and Mrs. Arthur Baird vice president at a Van Buren Township Farmers' Institute meeting. The session emphasized patriotism, cooperation between schools and churches, and community service amid fuel shortages.

Pledge of support for Farmers' Institute during war effort

A community Farmers' Institute resolves to continue supporting the institute as an education and cooperation body. It plans a two day meeting with a get-together day, local talent discussion, and outside speakers. Farmers Institute strengthens school ties in community event

The program featured adult and student speakers including Mr Test with talks on citizens duty and farmers role in the war. A music set included Come Where the Lilies Blow and The Star Spangled Banner. Elections elected Robert W. Bradford president and a 11 member executive committee. Witmer and DePoy promote farm real estate offerings and seek 100 listings.

Studabaker Coal Boosts Van Buren Schools Hold Open

Van Buren township schools reopened after a two week shutdown. Trustee Witmer says the term can continue with coal arriving and warm weather easing the fuel shortage. Studabaker Grain and Seed Co received a car load of hard coal and a car of soft coal late in the week.
