Car strike death leads to manslaughter charge

Clifford Lindell a 19 year old of Van Buren was arrested near Warren by Sheriff Bert Fowler Captain Jake Campbell and Marshal Henry Spiker for manslaughter in the death of Frank Harvey who died after being struck by Lindell’s Winton touring car in Marion Saturday night. Lindell said he was married recently at Indianapolis and the accompanying girl denied being with him at the time of the accident.

Mrs Archibald Undergoes Gallstone Operation At Hospital

Mrs George Archibald was taken to Grant county hospital Monday evening for gall stone surgery. Over one hundred stones and the appendix were removed. She is recovering well from the immediate effects and was formerly Miss Grace Witmer, daughter of Mr and Mrs C R Witmer.

Charles Lowery reports a Duroc male hog valued for breeding killed after being picked to death by a horse a few days ago.

Services at the library next Sunday

The library hosts Bible School at 2 PM followed by a short sermon by Rev. Day. At 6 50 PM the Marion Christian Endeavors offer special music and preaching by Rev. Day. Public invitation. Last Sunday 96 attended Bible School.

Finger About to Loss in Farm Sheller Accident

Mrs. Nora Bradford of the surrounding area sustained a severe injury when her left middle finger was torn off by a corn sheller while shelling for chickens. Her daughter rushed her to town where doctors dressed the wound and it is healing well.

Blood Poison in Foot Affects Mrs Horseman

Mrs. Horseman of the west end endures a serious blood poisoning in her right foot after stepping on a carpet tack. The infection has opened the foot several times and caused great pain, though she shows slight improvement at present.

Faculty for HGH School Completes Qualified Staff

The high school announces a complete faculty for the upcoming year despite teacher shortages and higher salaries.
