Miss Helen Kelley aged 18 was shot in her Dakota block room by Albert Beckmann who had claimed he lent her 300 for a trousseau. Four shots struck Kelley as she opened the door thinking it was her brother. A lamp exploded causing minor burns before Beckmann fled.
