Two Jurors Arrested In Chicago Board of Trade Suit

Bloomington Illinois October 2 two jurymen were arrested at noon for allegedly shielding evidence in a 6000 damages case stemming from a Chicago Board of Trade loss. William ONeill of Bloomington and W A Booth of Glenavon were accused of soliciting bribe money from defense lawyers. Judge C D Myers ordered their arrest after examination and they are jailed pending penitentiary charges.

Mob Attacks in Oxford Leaves Five Injured in Riot

Oxford Ohio October 2 five men seriously injured and one narrowly lynched after a street riot. Victims include John Woodruff marshal Jacob Manroe deputy marshal Ernest Jotten school teacher Louis Spivey and Joseph Spivey all shot or seriously harmed. Spivey brothers were dragged from jail and hanged three times as crowds demanded justice before officers intervened.

Head on collision on Southern Pacific near Ogden

A disastrous head on wreck occurred at Beowane station as No. 6 Atlantic Express from San Francisco collided with No. 219 freight. One passenger, Allen Harper of Pocatello, was killed and twenty injured including James McArter of Paterson and F A Byanski of Chicago. Relief trains, doctors, and two discharged soldiers aided the injured. The crash caused one coach to telescope an amgoking car and both engines to be destroyed. the line was cleared for traffic by 4 am.

Trick watches added to hops in fraud shipment

Paul Reinemann, arriving from Nuremberg, arraigned in New York on fraud rent invoice charges and posted 2500 bail. He allegedly shipped hops worth 3000 to Carl Neidhardt in Chattanooga containing 24 toy trick watches valued at 2 each hidden in a bale. Neidhardt later pleaded guilty to the Tennessee federal charge. The watches aimed to evade duties, not retrieve debt.
