Swea City residents share Christmas visits across Iowa and distant bases. R. C. Adama spent the holiday with relatives in Lake Mills, and many listed friends and relatives from Algona, Armstrong, Bancroft, Estherville, Grundy Center, Mason City, Ledyard, Lake Mills, and Camp Taylor. Notables include soldiers Sam Hethershaw returning from England, Ensign G. Buell Pearson arriving from New York, and Harold Fisher stationed at Camp Custer. Multiple families host Christmas gatherings at homes across the region.
Mrs G A Sharp and Mrs Joe Stebritz visited in Algona, returning Friday. Mrs Wm Hanna of Burt spent Wednesday with Mrs J M Hulburt. Peter Dremmels of Burt was a business visitor here Thursday and Friday. Mrs Frank Thompson and son returned from Algona Monday after a short visit. Mrs Ed Kreuger came home to Burt Saturday after an extended visit with her daughter Mrs Jay Godden. Private Mark Simmons came home Monday for Christmas with his parents. George Pettit was in Algona Monday and returned home Wednesday. Miss Reta Blanchard and Mabel Cotton came home Saturday for the holidays after school at Ames. Misses Ethel Cameron, June Pettit, Bernice Elvidge and Freila Krause returned Saturday from Algona where they attend school. Mr and Mrs Ed Bierstedt welcomed a baby boy this week. Mr and Mrs George Shaddick of Algona spent Christmas at the Pettit home. Mrs J M Blanchard and daughter Reta rode to Burt Thursday. Mrs Spencer left Thursday for Cedar Rapids to attend college. Mrs Peck of Burt visited at the Joe Elvidge home Wednesday.
Mr and Mrs Franzen and daughters of Algona spent Christmas with Mrs W W Thompson and family. Wm Krause and daughter Elias were business visitors at Fenton last Thursday. Mrs Dransfeldt was a business passenger to Burt Thursday evening. Ben Greuthe was called to St Louis Thursday for illness in the family. Mrs Hamm spent Thursday with friends at Fenton. Fred Wegener was a business passenger to Algona Thursday. Wm Wentzel and Louie Hintz returned from a Minnesota business trip Thursday. Charles Morrin is picking corn for Tom Snodgrass this week. Mr and Mrs John Miner returned Thursday after a visit at Thief River Falls Minnesota. Private Wm Murray came home Tuesday for Christmas with his parents then returned to Camp Logan Texas Friday.
