Sister of Mary Hecker Dies After Prolonged Illness
The sister of Mary Hecker, residence in Kahoka Missouri, died Sunday night after a nine month illness from diabetes. She was 51 or older, born in Hamilton Illinois, and moved to Kahoka as a girl. She married Dan Combs and lived on a farm near Kahoka. Funeral services were held in Lemonville with Rev J YD Gunter presiding. Survivors include three sisters and several brothers.

Masked man prompts late night attempted robbery at Elson’s addition

The man fled eastward when approached and authorities suspect two assailants. The elderly couple and grandchildren were present. a loaded gun was implied.

Rocks Thrown at the Home of Gideon Parker in Powersville
Last Wednesday about midnight Mia and Mrs Gideon Parker were awakened by a noise they thought was a revolver shot. A rock struck near Mrs Parker as Mr Parker fired at a skulking figure who fled. The next morning the rock lay on the porch and a window was broken. The Parker family hopes the guilty person is caught and punished. The writer suggests buckshot might have served justice.

Longtime county resident George Admire dies after illness
George Admire, aged well into his nineties, died Wednesday shortly after one o clock in the Vale of the Shadow of Death after a brief illness. Born August 10, 1822 in Kentucky, he moved with his family to Indiana and later to Putnam County. He served in the Mexican War and later joined the Missouri State Militia, fighting at Kirksville and Lone Jack. Survived by his wife Nancy Summers and ten children from previous marriages, with several heirs still living in Mapleton and Hannibal.
