Be Trig t il Festivities of Co Z Held Last Week

The event known as Com Z gathered in full force with General Wallace and Mrs. Wallace of St Louis, Captain and Mrs J H Elson and family of Quincy, Color Bearer and Mrs ANB Ben Shelton and family, Colonel C A Marshall, Private and Ms Chas Turner and family, L A Carroll and daughter. The social sequence began with a Christian dinner hosted by Mrs Marhbe Elaon, followed by a lavish banquet at Mr and Mrs private Chas Turner’s home. On Wednesday Color Bearer Shelton performed duties while Captain and Mrs Elson visited relatives. the US Captain returned with General Wallace and Mrs Wallace, leaving Friday. The gatherings were strictly social with no military purpose.

Last Meeting of The Old County Court

The old county court held its final meeting last Friday to transact business before adjournment. The extension request by A J Hume was rejected and bonds for Peter Greggers Lorenzo Jones and J T Morgan were approved. Clee Tingley and C D Coppock were authorized to arrange Roy Marshall bridge construction in Yorks township for 112 dollars. Accounts for Asylum No 1 and Asylum 2 were allowed totaling 214.65 and 596.30 respectively. Warrants were issued to E F Haigler for money advanced and a 20 dollar discount on asylum accounts approved. The court then adjourned sine die.

Presbyterian Church Plans Morning and Evening Services

Next Sunday the regular morning services will feature a sermon on The New Life by the pastor. A P Minear and family spent the weekend with Sullivan county relatives. Alma Buckalew and her brother visited their sister near Lone Star Friday night. Fox hunters spent the week in the valley woods enjoying fine weather for the sport.

Life Choice Sermon Next Sunday At Christian Church

County Hospital in Lemonville Hit by Defective Fire

A defective fire caused a blaze at Lemonville County Hospital between ten and eleven on Monday night. Officials, led by Superintendent Shelton, evacuated inmates and arranged temporary quarters in Milan. Blankets and bedding were purchased to furnish the infirmary there while permanent plans await court decisions next Friday.

County Home Fire Triggers Temporary Housing for Inmates

A county home burned causing evacuation of inmates to Lemonville hotel and the Bomn home. The 1903 facility cost over 7000 dollars to erect and carried 4000 dollars insurance with 500 dollars for contents. The fire, worsened by cold night, will delay rebuilding and a formal county home decision awaits later.

Sherman township appoints Ilia Daniels trustee

Ilia Daniels was appointed trustee in Sherman township by the township board. Rev Hutchinson of Enton will preach at West Liberty Christian church Sunday at 1 a.m. and again that night. Paris Drury, under physician care, threatens with pneumonia but is reported to be improving. Changes to the B and Q railroad timetable take effect at year's start with Nos 19 and 20 renumbered and specific route times adjusted.
