Eve birthings are recorded amid influenza and pneumonia deaths. Johnnie Rex Houser, 18, dies December 19 near West Liberty after influenza followed by pneumonia. funeral December 20 at West Liberty Cemetery. Erma Wells of Unionville dies last Saturday after influenza, leaving several small children. Unionville Red Cross enrollment effort praised for Christmas push

About 700 memberships have been secured to date in Unionville as Red Cross officials urge a larger canvass before Christmas. Chairman Statton aims to reach 8 000 to 3 000 more enrollments, hoping volunteers can visit districts to recruit members and support soldiers and mercy work in the coming year.
